SAE 5716 Heat Treatments
- No specific heat treating instructions are specified, but bars, wire, forgings, and flash welded rings shall be solution heat treated to produce specified mechanical properties;
Recommended solution heat treatment: Heat to a temperature not lower than 1038°C (1900°F), hold at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness and with heating equipment and procedures used, and cool at a rate equivalent to a rapid air cool or faster
