SAE 410 Heat Treatments
- Annealing: Heating to 816-871°C (1500-1600°F), furnace cool to 14-28°C (25-50°F) per hour to 593°C (1100°F).
Austenitizing temperature: 954-1010°C (1750-1850°F), medium for quenching: oil, air or polymer.
Recommended subcritical anneal: 649-788°C (1200-1450°F), air cool. - Full sections of tubing or specimens cut from tubing shall have tensile strength not lower than 1034 MPa or equivalent hardness after being heated to 954°C ± 6°C (1750°F ± 10°F), held at heat for 30 minutes ± 3 minutes, and cooled in still air.
