SAE Class 10.9 Heat Treatments


  • Medium carbon alloy steel bolts: Oil quenched, and tempered at a minimum tempering temperature of 425°C. Low carbon martensite steel bolts, screws and studs: Quenched in oil or water-base quenchant at the option of the manufacturer, and tempered at a minimum tempering temperature of 340°C.
