UNI 16 CrNi 4 Heat Treatments
- Hot worked at 1100-900°C; Cementation at 870-900°C; Core hardened at 850-880°C; Surface hardened at 810-840°C. Quenched in hot water bath; Stress relieved at 150-200°C.
- Material is normally supplied in the hot rolled condition but subject to agreement may be supplied in one of the following conditions: Soft Annealed (SA). Spheroidise Annealed (Spheroidised). Annealed to obtained a lamellar ferrite and pearlite structure (Annealed). The H + T values shown in the mechanical properties table are obtained from an 11mm test bar hardened by oil quenching from 870°C +/- 10°C after holding at temperature for at least 30 minutes, and tempered at 180°C +/- 10°C for at least 1 hour. Final Heat Treatment: Case harden at 870 - 900°C. Harden the core by oil quenching from 850 - 880°C. Harden the case by oil quenching from 810 - 840°C. Finally, temper at 150 - 200°C.
