AFNOR NF Z 10 CD 5.05 Heat Treatments
- Austenitized: 920-970°C for normalizing or hardening; Tempering: >= 650°C.
- Normalizing: 900-950°C, air or water cooled.
Tempering: 670-760°C.
Mechanical characteristics are also guaranteed after the following relaxation treatment:
- temperature rise 55°C/h from 300°C
- temperature maintenance at ± 5 °C, at a value taken in the temperature range 670 - 720°C
- temperature holding time 2.5 min/mm up to 100 mm thick + 0.5 min/mm above 100 mm thick
- temperature drop 55°C/h down to 300°C then air cooling
