AFNOR NF 10 CD 12.10 Heat Treatments
- Normalized: 900 - 950°C, air or water cooled. Tempered: 670 - 775°C.
Stress relief at 670 - 710°C. Duration 2.5 min/mm up to 100 mm thick + 0.5 min/mm after that.
Cooling at a rate of 55°C/h to 300°C, then air cooling. - Normalizing: 900-1020°C, air or water cooled.
Tempering: 670-775°C.
Mechanical characteristics are also guaranteed after the following relaxation treatment:
- temperature rise 55°C/h from 300°C
- temperature maintenance at ± 5 °C, at a value taken in the temperature range 670 - 710°C
- temperature holding time 2.5 min/mm up to 100 mm thick + 0.5 min/mm above 100 mm thick
- temperature drop 55°C/h down to 300°C then air cooling
