Heat Treatments

 • Quenched and tempered: 860-940°C, cooled in oil, polymer or water. Tempered at 600-700°C.
 • Hardened at 860-940°C. After reaching the temperature in the entire cross-section cooled in air or quenched in water or oil.
Tempered at 560-700°C, held for minimum 30 minutes, cooled in still air.
Normalizing: Heated at 880-960°C. After reaching the temperature in the entire cross-section cooled in still air.

Heat treatment after welding:
Stress relief annealing at 530-580°C. Cooling down in still air or in the oven.
The duration required for the specified annealing temperatures includes heating through and keeping within the temperature range and depends on the thickness of the components. When measuring the annealing temperature on the component surface, the following guide values are recommended depending on the thickness:
≤ 15 mm at least 15 min
> 15 mm ≤ 30 mm at least 30 min
> 30 mm ≤ 350 mm at least 60 min
> 350 mm approx. 120 min
The maximum holding time for the usual stress-relieving annealing is 150 min. With a holding time > 90 min or in the case of multiple annealing, the lower limit of the temperature range should be aimed for.
