DIN 1.7766 Heat Treatments

  • Hardening and tempering (for both class): At 950 to 980°C, after reaching the temperature in the whole cross-section, quenching in air, oil or water (spray). Tempering at 650 to 730°C, holding time 2 min. per mm product thickness, at least 2h and cooling in air. Stress reliving (for both class): at 600 to 650°C, holding period for 2 min. per mm thickness of product, at least 30 min. and still cooling in air.
  • Soft annealed at 680-730°C
Hardened at 950-980°C, cooled in air or quenched in oil
    Tempered at 630-700°C
