DIN 1.1830 Heat Treatments


  • Normalizing: Heated at 800°C.

    Soft annealing: Slowly heated at 680-710°C for 4 hours, slowly cooled, if possible in the furnace (to at least 500°C).

    Hardening in oil: Slowly heated at 800-830°C, oil quenched.

    Stress relief annealing: Slowly heated at 600-650°C for 1-2 hours, slowly cooled in furnace.
  • Hardening (quenching in oil): 800-830°C; Tempering: 180°C
