CSN 42 2723 Heat Treatments

Normalized and tempered (.5): Normalizing at 890 to 920°C, cooling in air; Tempering at 600 to 650°C, cooling in furnace, air; Annealing to lower tension at 580 to 630°C cooling in furnace, air. Temperature annealing for stress relief should be about 20-30°C lower than the actual temperature tempering; Heat treated (.9) - This state is only used in demanding castings with higher weight and complexity, and only after an agreement: Normalizing and tempering I: Normalizing at 920 to 950°C, cooling in air and Tempering at 600 to 650°C, cooling in furnace, air; Normalizing and tempering II: Normalizing at 890 to 920°C, cooling in air and Tempering at 640 to 680°C, cooling in air; Annealing to lower tension at 620 to 660°C cooling in furnace, air. Temperature annealing for stress relief should be about 20-30°C lower than the actual temperature tempering.
