CSN 19 474 Heat Treatments
- Hot forging at 1050 to 850°C, cool slowly in dry ash or furnace; Soft annealing at 710 to 740°C, warm few hours (depending on size of object), usually just four hours and cool slowly in the oven; Annealing at 600 to 650°C, 1-2 hours warm and cool slowly in the furnace; Hardening in air at 900 to 930°C, cooling in the air stream or oil - air or hardening in oil at 880 to 900°C; Tempering at 100 to 300°C, cool in air, the degree of tempering is set by the required hardness and toughness of the tool
