CSN 19 426 Heat Treatments

  • Forging at 1080 to 800°C, cool slowly in calm air or dry sand, possibly with controlled cooling in the furnace; Annealing normalizing at 820 to 860°C, cool air; Soft annealing at 700 to 730°C, warm few hours (depending on size of object) is usually sufficient for 4 hours and cool slowly in the oven; Annealing to lower tension at 600 to 650°C, 1-2 h, warm and cool slowly; Hardening in water at 810 to 840°C or in oil at 830 to 860°C (smaller cross-section to a thickness of about 25 mm); Tempering at 100 to 300°C, cool in water or in air, the degree of tempering is governed necessary hardness and toughness tool.
