B.S. S 146 Heat Treatments
- Softening treatment: The softening treatment shall consist of heating uniformly at a temperature of not less than 630°C. Final heat treatment: Hardening - Heat at a temperature of 875 ± 10°C, followed by cooling in still air, followed immediately by Sub-zero treatment - Hold at a temperature between – 70°C and – 80°C for not less than 2 h, Tempering - Heat uniformly at a temperature between 180°C and 220°C, followed by cooling in air.
