Alloying designation systems standard lists and material classification

SAE AMS Standard List: Coated Steels & Welding and Filler Materials
A numeral index system is used to identify the compositions of the SAE steels, which makes it possible to use numerals that are partially descriptive of the composition of material covered by such numbers. In the case of the simple alloy steels, the second digit generally indicates the approximate percentage of the predominant alloying element.
SAE AMS Standard List: Forging Materials
A numeral index system is used to identify the compositions of the SAE steels, which makes it possible to use numerals that are partially descriptive of the composition of material covered by such numbers. In the case of the simple alloy steels, the second digit generally indicates the approximate percentage of the predominant alloying element.
SAE AMS Standard List: Irons & Steel Castings
A numeral index system is used to identify the compositions of the SAE steels, which makes it possible to use numerals that are partially descriptive of the composition of material covered by such numbers. In the case of the simple alloy steels, the second digit generally indicates the approximate percentage of the predominant alloying element.
SAE AMS Standard List: Nickel Alloys and Heat Resistant Nickel Alloys
A numeral index system is used to identify the compositions of the SAE steels, which makes it possible to use numerals that are partially descriptive of the composition of material covered by such numbers. In the case of the simple alloy steels, the second digit generally indicates the approximate percentage of the predominant alloying element.
Spanish (UNE) Standards for Steel Materials
This group of UNE standard specifications covers carbon and alloy steels, plates for boilers and other pressure vessels, sheets and strips, high-strength low-alloy steels, heat-treatable steels, hot and cold-rolled plates for cold forming, and non-alloy steels. Steel casting specifications call out the standard properties for pressure purposes. The group of standards for tool steels, stainless and heat resisting steels is also presented.
Specifications for Ductile Iron
Standard specifications for engineering grades of ductile iron castings classify the grades according to the tensile strength of a test bar cut from a prescribed test casting.
The International Standards Organization (ISO) specification ISO 1083:1976 and most national specifications also specify the ductility in terms of percentage of elongation and the 0.2% proof strength or offset yield strength. The impact values of those grades with the highest ductility are frequently specified in the ISO, UK, and German specifications, and a guide to microstructure is included in most specifications. Hardness is usually specified, but is only mandatory in SAE J434C.
