Platform Update: GitBook Assistant

We’ve introduced a new feature across the Total Materia platform - the GitBook Assistant - designed to help users navigate the platform more easily and find the information they need faster. Acting as an intelligent guide, the assistant can answer questions about how to use different features and direct users to the most relevant tools and sections within the platform. Whether you need help performing a quick search, finding the best material equivalent, searching by properties such as tensile strength, assessing material compliance, or comparing materials, the GitBook Assistant provides clear guidance in real time. By making it easier to locate functionality and understand how to use it effectively, this new tool helps users work more efficiently and get greater value from the Total Materia platform.

User Documentation: Your Guide to the Total Materia Platform

To help users get the most out of the Total Materia platform, we maintain comprehensive online documentation covering all solutions and key workflows. The documentation provides step-by-step guidance on how to search for materials, compare properties, identify equivalents, assess compliance, and work with advanced tools across the platform.
Recently updated to reflect the latest improvements in Horizon and Optimizer, these guides make it easier for users to understand new capabilities and apply them effectively in their daily work. By offering clear instructions and practical examples, the documentation helps users quickly find the information they need, improve efficiency, and make more confident materials decisions.

This Month’s Selection of Articles
  • CORROSION FATIGUE
This article explains corrosion fatigue, a failure mechanism that occurs when cyclic loading combines with corrosive environments. It describes how repeated stresses and chemical reactions accelerate crack initiation and reduce fatigue life, often eliminating the safe stress limits seen in air. The article also outlines key mechanisms behind crack formation and highlights how corrosion fatigue affects components in applications such as boiler systems and automotive parts.

  • CORROSION RESISTANCE OF FERRITIC STAINLESS STEELS
This article reviews the corrosion resistance and key properties of ferritic stainless steels. It explains how chromium-rich compositions provide strong resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, oxidation, and pitting, making these alloys suitable for demanding environments. The article also discusses typical grades, manufacturing advances, and common applications in industries such as automotive, power generation, and chemical processing.
