Å finne materialtyper i databasen er veldig enkelt og er gjort på få sekunder. For eksempel la oss se på ståltypen X5CrNiMo 17 12 2 i følge DIN.

Bruk "Raskt søk" fra hjemmesiden for abonnenter og skriv inn betegnelse og velg DIN fra standardlisten.


Etter å ha trykket på et materiale fra resultatlisten vil en liste med undergrupper dukke opp. I Total Materia blir undergrupper brukt om spesifikasjoner som definerer egenskapene til ståltypen; I dette tilfelle velges DIN 1654-5. Vær oppmerksom på at egenskaper definert av ulike spesifikasjoner kan variere betraktelig.
