Zinc-Aluminum Foundry Alloys

Zinc-Aluminum Foundry Alloys 8, 12 and 27 comprise a new family of zinc casting alloys that have proven themselves in a wide variety of demanding applications. They are engineering materials well suited to applications requiring high as-cast strength, hardness and wear resistance. These three alloys offer designers and casting specifiers viable, cost-effective alternatives for their component requirements.

Zirconium Alloys: Part One

The most common application areas for cast zirconium equipment are in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and hot organic acids. Zirconium shows excellent corrosion resistance to all concentrations of hydrochloric acid even at temperatures exceeding the normal boiling point. Since zirconium is one of higher priced alloys applied in the chemical process industry, it is used only where service conditions necessitate its selection.
