SAE Inconel 625 Heat Treatments
- Sheet and strip: Hot or cold rolled, annealed, and, unless annealing is performed in an atmosphere yielding a bright finish, descaled;
Plate: Hot rolled, annealed, and, unless annealing is performed in an atmosphere yielding a bright finish, descaled;
Product shall be annealed by heating in a suitable atmosphere to a temperature not lower than 870°C (1600°F), holding at the selected temperature within ± 15°C (± 25°F) for a time commensurate with section thickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster, except when continuous heat treating is used - Solution heat treated: Heating in a suitable atmosphere to a temperature not lower than 1093 ± 14°C (2000 ± 25°F), holding at heat for a time commensurate with section thickness, and cooling at a rate equivalent to an air cool or faster.
Product may be given a subsequent stabilization treatment at a temperature not lower than 982°C (1800°F) to increase resistance to sensitization.
