AISI 4130 Heat Treatments
- Hardenability of Each Heat shall be J 5/16 inch (7.9 mm) = 34 HRC minimum and J 8/16 inch (12.7 mm) = 27 HRC minimum; steel shall be normalized at 927 ± 6°C (1700 ± 10°F) and the test specimen austenitized at 871 ± 6°C (1600 ± 10°F).
- Hardening: Hardened by quenching in oil from 871 ± 6°C (1600 ± 10°F), and tempered for not less than 30 minutes at not lower than 482°C (900°F).
