UNI 30 NiCrMo 12 Heat Treatments
- Bars and wires hardened and tempered was heat treated as follows: Harden by oil quenching from 820 to 840°C followed by tempering at 600 to 630°C for one hour.
Annealing: Heat to 640 - 680°C, hold at temperature for a minimum of 3 hours then slow cool in the furnace (approximately 50°C/hour) to 500°C or below, followed by cooling to room temperature in still air. - Forging: 850-1050°C; Queching: 820-840°C (duration of permanence at hardening must be sufficient so that the transformation of steel structure is complete in whole mass of arc rod the duration should not be less than 1/2 hr.), oil (temperature must be between 15-60°C); Tempering: 550-650°C, at least 1 hour. Jominy test piece hard: 825 +/-5°C (piece must always be normalized before the test). Soft annealing: 640-680°C; Normalizing 840-870°C.
