Heat Treatments
- Hardening: 820-860°C (Temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally used for water, and those at the upper end for oil quenching. Time for austenitizing as a guide: at least 30 min.);
Quenching agent: Water or oil (Other quenching agents such as synthetic quenchants may also be used.);
Tempering: 550-660°C (Time for tempering as a guide: at least 1h.);
Normalizing: 840-880°C.
- Austenitizing (at least 30 min), quenching in water or oil: 820-860°C (the temperatures at the lower end of the range are generally applicable to quenching in water and those at the upper end for quenching in oil), other quenching agents such as synthetic quenchants may also be used; Tempering: 550-660°C (at least 60 min); Normalizing: 840-900°C, austenitizing (at least 30 min).
