EN 10283: 2019 / Corrosion resistant steel castings

Heat Treatments

  • <b> Solution annealing (+AT) </b> at 1120 to 1150°C and quenching in water. <br> After solution annealing at high temperature, castings may be cooled to a temperature between 1040°C and 1010°C prior to water quenching to prevent cracks and to improve corrosion resistance. <br> After solution annealing + quenching in water, precipitation hardening is possible by treatment at 480°C to 510°C, while ductility, impact energy and corrosion resistance are only slightly lowered.
  • +AT: Solution annealing at 1120 - 1150°C, cooling in water. After a high temperature solution annealing, the castings may be cooled from 1040°C to 1010°C before being quenched in water to prevent cracks and to improve corrosion resistance.
