Heat Treatments

 • Normalizing: Heated at 800°C.

Soft annealing: Slowly heated at 680-710°C for 4 hours, slowly cooled, if possible in the furnace (to at least 500°C).

Hardening in water: Slowly heated at 780-810°C, quenched in water. The quenching water should be 20-30°C and not colder than 20°C.

Hardening in oil: Slowly heated at 800-830°C, oil quenched.

Stress relief annealing: Slowly heated at 600-650°C for 1-2 hours, slowly cooled in furnace.
 • Austenitized at 790 +/- 10°C and water quenched.
Tempered at 180 +/- 10°C
