Heat Treatments
- Cold finished and either normalized and tempered, stress relieved, or otherwise heat treated.
- Hardenability of Each Heat shall be J5/16 inch (7.9 mm) = 34 HRC minimum and J8/16 inch (12.7 mm) = 27 HRC minimum; steel shall be normalized at 927 ± 6°C (1700 ± 10°F) and the test specimen austenitized at 871 ± 6°C (1600 ± 10°F).
